The Guardian Building was super central for a first home base in New Zealand — steps away from both the main train station as well as ferries! Check-in was straightforward, the Zodiac team was responsive and helpful :) As for the apartment itself, everything was well thought out, from the furniture to the cooking and cleaning supplies (basic spices, oil, dish soap, laundry powder, shampoo/conditioner/shower gel were all available). Being close to the back of building exit was handy, but one thing to note is that there are trash collection vehicles in the early morning which can be noisy if you’re a light sleeper!

Perfect spot to stay in central Auckland. Makes it easy to explore the city without having to drive. Plenty of space to chill in the lounge and the headbeam above the bed is definitely not as bad as reviews make it out to be. Would stay here again :)

Our stay was great! A little bit of outside noise which was to be expected but the apartment itself was super clean and tidy, great smart tv and wifi. The large window has a roller blind for added privacy which was great, perfect wee kitchen amenities however the ice tray was not usable as it had cracks all through it. The towels provided were very stiff and scratchy so I will say I would have preferred something a bit nicer but other than those two small things, everything else was perfect and we enjoyed our stay in this comfortable apartment.

This Airbnb was absolutely fantastic! The location was perfect, with everything we wanted to see just a short walk away. The space itself was beautiful, exactly as pictured and even more charming in person. Upon entry we were a bit dubious about the apartment. It was a little bit smaller than I thought. However after a couple of days we settled in and the apartment had grown on us. It was safe and secure, based in a good location within the CBD and was an interesting place to stay due to the building had a lot of historical significance in Auckland.

The accommodation is for young partygoers in the city who do not appreciate daylight, no peace, no fresh air or beautiful views from the apartment. Nothing for slightly more demanding customers, even if the advertised pictures allow you to expect this.

Stefan and the Management were amazing with communication and help. 5 star The property was old and had electrical issues, there was road works and renovations making it extremely noisy. No welcome guide or milk or anything that made you feel warm. The management were very responsive though. Would recommend for one night but not for extended stay.

Really good place! Great location and felt comfortable so I could relax when needed. Only things to be aware of is that it faces and alleyway and is at times loud. There is also a garage that keeps its lights on 24/7 which shines into the bedroom area. If you can ignore that then you should be good to go!

The apartment is set up with everything you need and is very nice - no issues there. The apartment/building does smell like cigarette smoke (likely an older smoking building). The apartment does back right on to a busy lane way which was very noisy in the morning - didn’t end up getting a very good sleep here.

A lovely apartment in a perfect central location- v short walk to supermarket, cafes and restaurants. Check in and key pick up was off site but was close by ands so easy and well organised. Very comfy and cosy stay. … the only downside was lack of heavy curtains to block out the street light from outside- suggestion for improvement? But otherwise a great stay - will be back!

The communication was great. Key pick up is in different location however instructions clear and easy walk between. Loft studio was clean and walking distance to most things. Stairs to loft/bedroom are narrow and steep so May not suit everyone. I loved it

It was a wonderful and beautiful place. I recommend staying there. Stefan is wonderful, quick to respond and helpful But the problem was that the curtain was transparent, which did not cover the sun's rays, and in the dark it somewhat revealed the light, and sometimes it was a little noisy.

Only small issue is that it gets noisy, especially on the weekend and that there is no view thick curtain. Across the street is a light, that shines into the room during the night. But I would come again Very close to public transportation and many restaurants/cafes.

L’arrivée et le premier jour se sont très bien passés. Emplacement idéal pour un court séjour. Appart sympa. Néanmoins le deuxième jour l’alarme incendie s’est enclenchée sans raison apparente. Nous somme restées plus de deux heure dans le couloir à essayer de joindre le propriétaire qui pour toute réponse nous demandait d’attendre et d’attendre encore. Personne ne s’est déplacé. Le voisinage évidemment mécontent, mais nous impuissantes. Nous avons finit par rassembler nos affaires et partir en catastrophe au vu de l’inaction du logeur.

The place was lovely, loved the location as well as the apartment itself. The only inconvenience was getting the wrong key to begin with and not being able to get into the apartment for about an hour, however Stefan was quick at responding to our messages, and got our new key sorter fairly quickly. Overall enjoyed the stay, very responsive host, and the place was amazing.

Nice place - bed was quite hard and unfortunately really noisy every single night outside every hour throughout the night bottles and rubbish truck… from 1:30am ongoing until 5:30am - not ideal! I’m not sure why the rubbish man is there all night????

A clever use of awkward space makes the apartment unique, both in use and in appearance. It is a substantial hassle getting the key from a different location. Takes more than 15 minutes to sort it out, even with a car. Stunning exterior of the building. Rabbit warren to get to the apartment door tho. Especially with luggage and convoluted instructions. Had to evacuate due to a major plumbing leak - all the way through from the loft roof to the bottom floor and into the bathroom. Despite the small number of good things, overall, disappointing.

Terrible place - definitely recommend avoiding. Noticeable and disgusting smell of cat pee upstairs, which they’ve tried to deliberately mask by putting a giant air freshener in the wardrobe. Oven doesn’t work properly so couldn’t actually bake anything. No proper blind so during the day it’s incredibly dark inside, but at night you can’t make it dark because of lighting across the road of a depot. The depot has constant extremely loud deliveries at all hours. There’s also the bin collection right outside the window every day at 5am. Host made no effort to attempt to come and clean the cat pee stink away, and after 5 days had also made no effort to fix the oven. There were long hairs all over furniture where it hadn’t been cleaned. When I said about the smell I was told “use the air freshener.” It’s run by a useless management company, as are most airbnbs, so I’d just avoid, save your money and go somewhere else. Ended up cancelling my booking and going somewhere else.

I was in Auckland for 9 nights for a visit with colleagues and really needed a home base from which to attend remote meetings, feel comfortable, be able to cook and eat food, and overall feel like a home. Stefan's loft apartment met all these conditions and more. The apartment was spacious, cozy, and felt from the first day like somewhere I lived rather than a room I was borrowing for the week. The washer and dryer are a game changer, and the kitchenette was the perfect size for homemade breakfasts, meeting with friends and colleagues for a glass of pre-dinner wine, and relaxing after long days with Netflix and a cup of tea. The Guardian building is beautiful, and I loved coming home to this spot every day. Super walkable to all of beautiful CBD and incredibly close to the waterfront

Truly enjoyed our 3 week stay. All essentials for a comfortable stay are available in the unit. The place was clean and bed linens were fresh and newly washed. The location made it very easy to get to anywhere in the CBD. It can get noisy on weekend nights but to be expected. Definitely recommending this place.

Cool apartment in a great location. Excellent communication from host(s). If you’re taller than 5’10” - watch your head by the bed. As others have stated, the place can be a bit noisy but to be expected when living on Queen St. Place was tidy when we arrived, but we would’ve liked the cleaning to be a bit more thorough. Nice amenities like the coffee machine, Samsung TV and a Sonos sound bar were amazing to have.

I came here from further out in Auckland for some child free down time. The apartment was warm, comfortable and had everything I need for a couple of nights. WiFi and tv connected super easily and the collection of the key was simple and without hitch. The hosts were always quick to respond too so I felt confident that if anything went wrong I’d get a prompt reply. I’ll absolutely stay here again. Nice little bolt hole in a prime location.

Great accommodation! Due to backing out on the road, the rubbish trucks from the loading zone was very load early in the morning but otherwise, great stay!

it was too noisy early in the morning and couldnt sleep at all. i know its uncontrollable but just letting you know. lovely place but there were few blood stains on sheets and felt disgusting and it was a puzzle to find the key to the building and the key doesnt work properly. overall experience was exhausting

Excellent loft apartment. Exactly as in pictures. Extremely convenient location, supermarket, train, ferry, bars, restaurants all within walking 10mins distance.

Good location in the city in a cool building. We did find that we were woken up by the garbage trucks next door, which comes at 5am and would take approx. 10-15 min so depending on if you can easily get back to sleep, it might be something to bear in mind.

I highly recommend this place. Good communication to do the check out. Location is very good. The apartment was extremely clean. The bed was absolutely comfortable. 10 put of 10!

location of the apartment is really good. apartment itself is fairly modern with a really comfortable king sized firm bed (i prefer firm beds). size of the bed means that there isn't a lot of space on the foot of the bed to walk around the other side. wasn't an issue for us but worth noting as an accessibility thing. had an issue with not being able to access the parking due to swipe card not being returned by a previous guest and communication issues as their phone systems were having issues. unfortunately this massivelt affected our stay since we were travelling for work and had places to be. when we eventually got through to the team, they generously offered some solutions and ideas.

Key pick up was quite far from property. Apartment nice with good lounge. Very noisy every night for 30 mins between 3-5-‘ emptying bottles/rubbish from hotel opposite
